I get the ocular migraines as you describe with no pain but with little to no lingering aspects. My mother used to get something like them and my brother (a physician) gets them. Started off a couple times a year when I was an young adult, much more frequent now, a couple times of week. This year, I started to track when I got them and it was about a 50-50 split between am and pm,just had one about an hour ago. Mine are very predictable and last about 20 minutes. First its a hole in the vision, then the aura, and finally the "kaleidoscope" -- which I wish I could record the "imagery", it might be interesting to watch. No real lingering effects, although sometimes I feel "flashbulbed" for a while.
Driving is a bit interesting when they are happening and reading things, either on paper or on a screen, is a pain, but really not much of a hassle compared to lots of other things. A recent doctor's visit, they suggested an old blood pressure med but it sounds like its various potential side effects are worse than the actual event. I filled the script but I thinking it will be a $3 out of pocket donation to the pharmacy.

Anyone else suffer from these? I get auras a couple times a week but i dont get the migraines that used to follow them. Now I just feel kinda crappy all day long. I try to explain them to people that have never had one that it is like looking through half a kaleidoscope. Wife suffers this, explained it just as you did. Problem is, it’s her good eye.

I usually don't take anything for it but if i keep on the magnesium, it doesn't happen as often. Good to know. I'll try to increase that element in my diet. The recent doc recommended Propranolol (trade name, I think) which is a beta blocker BP med. My brother (a physician) tried that for his ocular events and had numerous side effects, including, as he described it, "Mr. Happy" not working. I think I'll pass...

I had one today. I get them often. It always starts with a small pattern, usually more in one eye than the other. I call it glitter eye. It works it's way out in the shape of a c and goes away and then the low grade headache starts in the neck area. Some are worse than others and will knock me down for a day, some don't do much at all. Todays wasn't to bad. It does run in my family as my mom has had them her whole life and she's still going strong at 85. She can outrun me. I usually don't take anything for it but if i keep on the magnesium, it doesn't happen as often. I feel for ya as it can make you miserable. I had that glitter eye in my left eye one time the shape of a c. It lasted for 2-3 minutes and went away. No headache occurred afterwards. I don't get headaches ever. Blessed I guess. One time I was watching TV and I couldn't see faces. They were blurry. I could see everything else but not faces. I was kind of sleepy at the time. At this point, I hope that it was just a halfway waking dream. Kind of scary at the time.

I've spent a lot to learn that eye docs know things others do not. Young ones have the modern sheepskin. Optometrist in Sarver Pa that studied in Pittsburgh. And Retinal gist (spelling) in Cranberry/Pittsburgh that studied in Germany.
Ask a young eye doctor.

I thought auras happened to just a few people. Seems like a lot of you suffer from the same. I feel for every one of you.
