First year i ever got beaver, while I was skinning my beaver had a couple of deep oop's on the fur. Do I sew the hole before fleshing like I do on yotes or do I just staple / nail em closed like the leg holes?
Thanks

Where are the holes located on the skin? How big?
I would just nail them closed when boarding,

2 of them are around the face, I missed the upper jawline, a slice not all the way through yet is about 2 inches above the tail. I can see the roots but not the fur.

Any cuts around the head ,legholes or near the edges wont be downgraded at the auction.
Just nail them closed when you board to make it look neat.

Thanks Boco.
I just picked one up that has a good size bald spot on the front leg. About from the foot to the chest the entire inner leg. When I skin it I'll be careful but for boarding should u just slice it & fold into each side treat it like a foot hole?

Id just leave the rub as is.between the leghole and the edge is no problem.

How do you store beaver tails until you can skin them out?
I read somewhere that they don't freeze very good with all the oil in them & I don't want them to spoil before i get time to process the tail for the leather.
