I’m up trapping a few marten and was thinking about using a bag to help keep me organized. The snow is knee deep or so, and carrying my fence pliers, a bottle of lure, fence staples , and maybe some flagging I was thinking a fishing creel might fit the bill? Would allow me to carry a couple boxes pre baited and not worry about loosing something.

Anyone have a bag that works well for them?

Thanks for any input

I really want to get a pack basket, just haven't pulled the trigger. I currently use a school backpack.

I have a plastic pack basket and a weaved one but it would get in the way in the thick forest. I’m thinking like a polar creel not wicker

Forget about baskets or bags get a good large backpack.
Do you trap on foot?
All the marten trappers I know use snowmachines.

I’m trapping from a truck, so just running boxes off a road. A backpack would work but a marten purse might be handy? Help bring out me feminine side.

If you are nailing up boxes and baiting out of a truck a 5 gallon pail is all you need for that.Trap hatchet and nails wire and pliers in bucket and bait in the box.
A small kids school book backpack is great for your snares wire, flagging tape and pliers.

I use a tool bag from harborfreight that works pretty good for me. Can haul my lure, wire ,pliers, coni-brakets, screws, and my small Milwaukee drill. [Linked Image]

I can also strap it on my sled when I need to use it.
Hope this helps

I would just use a small tool bag like JMack is using. I use one similar for all of my odds and ends and love it.

I'm usually trapping out of a boat/snow machine/truck, but I have a few spots I pack into on snowshoes, and I use a regular pack basket. I have a woven one and a fibertuff one, I like the wood one only because I ordered a small one specifically thinking about packing in a few marten or lynx sets into inaccessible spots

I use an arborist rope bag for fisher trapping. Carries everything, I need.

If you're within a hundred feet of the truck I'd use a five gallon bucket or tool bag, easier to grab and just set down at your sets. But if you are walking a couple hundred yards to some the backpack like Boco recommends would be easier than carrying a bag or bucket making you off balance on one side. Check the thrift stores, you can usually get kids school backpacks for a buck or two and if you don't like it or use it much you're not out hardly anything. If you get one with the leather bottom to hold up to heavy textbooks, they also hold up much better to sharp and heavy metal tools that all of us trappers end up tossing in our bags.
