Got invited by a buddy to a remote (ish) first week deer camp. After several bad winters, the deer herd is just recovering, so we didn't get anything. Was a great adventure though, made 11 new friends and saw those northern stars for the first time in a long time. Visited an abandoned 100+ year old trapper's cabin. Anyway, here's some pictures... Cabin is 2 hours by tractor and wagon from the road. Found a giant water bug, porcupine, cool purple fungus. Can't get all pictures to upload because they aren't resized yet. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-16255-236139-1000003630.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-16255-236140-1000003614.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-16255-236141-1000003653.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-16255-236142-1000003642.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-16255-236143-1000003639.jpg)

I wasn't far enough north to meet Boco, but if I had, I surely would have offered him a beer.
Just happy to be here.

Nothing like that around here.
What was the general latitude of the area you were in? Just curious.

I wasn't far enough north to meet Boco, but if I had, I surely would have offered him a beer. now that is a very giving guy at Canadian beer prices. I bought pop for the kid today , holy cow did that stuff get expensive 7.99 for a 12pack that was at the grocery store I think they are keeping beer in the US artificially low so that there isn't a revolt a 30 rack is still around 20 dollars

Great pics Sly. The Restoule area is home to some very famous trappers from back in the golden age of the OTA-1950's Tons of fur trapped around that area of north central Ontario.Large beaver quotas and all taken under ice back in the day. Come on up to the FHA convention Sly and I'll buy you a beer at fast eddys.

I always want to go, but never can seem to free myself from work/life commitments at that time. I'll see what I can do...
Just happy to be here.

![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-553-236177-1000007065.jpg) Take your Grandkids to McD for a meal and ice cream! 10 bucks a person minimum 15 is probably closer. I did go to Hardees for lunch today , 11.57 for 2 sandwiches drank water don't get any fries or anything , was out grocery shopping and Menards. my parents order the kids meal at culvers one of the best deals going. Hardees takes a little longer but they are making the burger while you wait

I used to go to restoule regularly for many years. Great camping and the lake has Walleye, smallmouth and muskie. I shot my first whitetail there during a deer drive with hounds. Quite the experience! Were you north of the lake towards sand lake? Boco’s gotta be about 6-8 hrs north of there (?)

Yes, near sand Lake at an organized hunt camp. I would say about 4-6 more hours to James Bay as well.
Just happy to be here.
