Chemicals are the culprit, our farming practices are the problems, the farm bureau's and farmers r only worried about there pocket books. It's beyond me how anyone can destroy lives and our country either 1st or second handily.

Chemicals lower emune system on all animals and people.

If you believe that "chemicals are the culprit", based off of this article, you have likely misread the content, or more likely don't know the back story involved in it's creation.
I have some incite in this specific matter. I have had numerous online conversations with Judy Hoy who has been running with this hypothesis for about 10 years. She claims that her observations equal scientific fact, but in reality is based on nothing but anecdotal evidence she has seen on roadkills.
In my conversations, I found that she would not listen to anything anyone had to say on the matter. Her mind was made up. There where numerous professional wildlife biologists offering their input on the matter, but she still would not bend. This was remarkable to me because some of them were State Game biologists who would be very much interested in looking into a matter as serious as this one is alleged to be.
Seems to me that she finally after 10 years, found someone to take up her challenge.
The article posted was carefully worded in a less than scientific manner, probably partially to pacify Judy Hoy to get her to shut up.

I assume you like to eat other things besides deer. The same farmers you accuse of killing all the deer with chemicals are the same ones that supply you with other meat, vegetables , fruits’ and dairy products. I live in farm country where lots of chemicals are used to produce food. The deer population is booming so your theory is total BS.

EHD outbreaks seem hard to predict.

Drought limits water opportunities so the deer gather more at the remaining watering areas concentrating them increasing the spread from gnats at those locations like CWD supposedly does at feeding stations. At least that’s what I’ve gathered over the years.

EHD has devastated the deer herds along the Missouri River areas here in SD over the last 20 years.

A terrible disease. They finally starting to come back on my place but it has taken years. Getting better found about 20 sheds this year. I suppose it is about time for it to hit here again.

Four years ago EHD wiped out my herd. They are slowly coming back but we have dog hunting and those guys kill everything that crosses the road, so our herd rebound is very slow. They complain about lack of deer but during doe days here it sounds like a dove shoot.

Found a trophy buck along a dead end road nothing would eat it just laid there birds crapped on it but not one hole picked in it. Seen a badger move under a carcass and ate the heck out of it.

Had a sick mule deer on my line one year it just stood in place for long periods of time would not run off so I knew something was up with it. CO shot it but did not have a saw to take the horns off of it. Told her I’d get that done on my next trip down that way.

Went to turn in the rack and a piece of the brain for testing and the supervisor asked what the brain sample was for, “ I said testing” like it was hard to figure out really. LOL Being a mule deer the thought was brain worm but he said theres no test for that as ridicules as that sounded but he begrudgingly sent it in to test for EHD and it came back negative for that.

It seemed like deniability was more important than knowing what was going on here. I tried to get the same guy to see if there was any interest in relocating spotted skunks to other areas but the concept was unimaginable to him.
