2.5 -3 years. Caught 5 id toed in one week, some were from 2 season's ago and one was from 3 years ago, he was caught in exact same dam break set as he had been 3 years prior. Id used a cement block for a drowning weight and 11 ga. wire and he drug the block to the top of the dam and broke the wire off. Oddly at the next dam up as he was crossing the cdr fell off his foot on top of it so i got my trap back alone with a couple of toes. Missing toes is how i knew it was him 3 years later after id long forgot about him.

It’s pretty simple actually… I just shave down a steep portion of the bank , making a horseshoe type of bend in it,put a piece of pvc pipe that has an elbow on it , in the back of the bend,,, put my trap in about 3-4 inches of water in front of the PVC pipe,, put some castor in it and you are good to go,,,
I run mb750, cdr750 on drowners.
I also use 330s , I dig a trench into a steep bank about 2 1/2 feet long with the mouth being just wide enough to place a 330 in front of it,,, I put the PVC in the back,,, lure the PVC, put the 330 in front and it’s good to go.
I like the 330 to be half submerged,,, here in Illinois our 330s don’t have to be totally underwater…
A little trick to save money,,, instead of buying pvc elbows,, just take a heat gun and get the PVC hot,,, then you can bend it,,,,, just hold it there until it cools.

I found were the beaver has been going up and down in a channel,,, it keeps knocking down my snares which is very frustrating,,,,there’s a slight hump in the channel where it’s coming out of the water and back in ,,, kinda like An island,,,, I was thinking about concealing a mb750 in there,,, but I can’t tell if it’s walking down into it or sliding down into it,,,, I don’t want to catch it by the belly

Put your snare lock to the 10 or 2 oclock position, won't get knocked down by 'rats and such, less sensitive in other words.

They might remember but they will eventually return to their programming. They can’t help it.

They remember castor sets with the same lure
They remember square traps

I believe they remember the smell of your pee in the woods

The only downfall for a pinch beaver or a beaver which watched its mate expire, compared to a pinched coyote is that we know exactly where that beaver lives and where it has to go to feed.
All a wise coyote needs to do is just leave.
That is why I think a pinched beaver is quite a bit more sharpwhitted than a pinched coyote.

Make two sets 10 feet apart with a Large leghorn trap set for front or backfoot...matters not. Slick up the shore with a gloved hand like a beaver crawl out. a few drops of popple bud or birch oil either one but not both. Second set same thing but use "0il sack" 3 0r 4 drops on the bank. nothing else.
all of it done under water xcept slicking up the bank and the drops.
