So, I'm working for a family friend, and my job is to feed his cows. This can mean anything from 2 bales to 8 bales a day, depending on whether I need to fill feeders and such. This has been making my knife go dull so quickly. I sharpen it before I head out there, and by the time I'm done, it can even cut the net wrap. I've tried razor blades and same story. Is there any faster and better way to cut net wrap?

Thanks in advance
TYT

Box cutter works as well as anything I have tried. Nothing is going to stay sharp long cutting against the hay. Just leave them in the tractor so they are always handy.

Hayknife. It takes a box cutter blade. I’m guessing we cut over 100 bales per side of the knife. Has a hook on opposite side of the blade that you can reach over or under the bale to grab the wrap. Takes seconds per bale . Last October we set out nearly 500 bales for bale grazing in 4 days. Place bale where we wanted to feed it or unroll in pastures. Cut the bottom and pull wrap out from underneath but left wrap drape over the bales to help shed water. When we were ready for said bale, pull wrap off. We placed every bale we fed last year in October when it was dry, never had to start the loader again all winter to feed hay

Yup I like the Spiderco folding blades with a clip so I never have ti reach to the bottom of my pocket. Occasionally I find a knock off at a gun show that can hold an edge.

Grab loose end, and just pull it off. Then set it down.

Quit cutting and unwrap them. Very easy if on a spike, harder on an unroller.

Cheapest utility knife I can get if I lose it I’m not out much, I use Stanley blades in it they seem to be the best for the money, wait till you get ice on cornstalk bales, that’ll make you use words you’ve never used before.

This is all I use, change blade in under 2 mins.

And you can cut a lot of bales before you have to change out blades
