I was wondering about if beaver leather would be good for a welding apron or is it not durable enough?

Beaver rawhide is very durable.it makes great snowshoe filling.(not much stretch)
If you make leather out of a beaver hide,it will vary a lot in thickness, thickest parts being cheeks and shoulder area, rump and back very strong also with bellys being weaker and thinner.
Fall pelts are thicker.than spring.Size of the beaver also with the big grisselbacks being thicker stronger hide.

That’s good to know Boco, my thought was to use whole hides as much as possible so less sewing, and better spark repelling.

I got thinking about it, should I even tan it or just break the hide when dry?

Chrome tan or veg tan for a welding apron.
