Went out hunting with my nephew today. We had three really nice does on the ground in the first hour. He shot his with a 7mm-08. My 2 fell to my tried and true Savage muzzle loader.

traditional or inline?

I used to use my inline NEF 50 huntsman in a shotgun zone , but after a day of hunting and night of cutting I realzied I was the only one up cleaning while I would rather be sleeping.

sure did like how a 410gr flap point dropped a deer , only ever blood trailed one and it was admittedly a bad shot , I shot it on the run and got a leg , but it still left a trail and was recovered

Pete it's a in line smokeless muzzle loader. I am running 41 grains of accurate 5744 pushing a saboted hornady 300.grain xtp mag bullet. 209 shotgun primer.

smokeless would definitely make for less cleaning.

I assume NY was a Shotgun and muzzle loader only in many places till recently

about 1/2 of Wisconsin was that way until about 10-12 years ago now just some townships are shotgun , pistol , muzzle loader.
