“Truancy is any intentional, unjustified, unauthorized, or illegal absence from compulsory education. It is a deliberate absence by a student's own free will and usually does not refer to legitimate excused absences, such as ones related to medical conditions. Truancy is usually explicitly defined in the school's handbook of policies and procedures. Attending school but not going to class is called internal truancy. Some children whose parents claim to homeschool have also been found truant in the United States.[1][2] In many countries, truancy is criminalized by law as either a criminal or a civil offense, and allows to prosecute truant students (under the age of 18), their parents, or both. Some countries, like Canada or Australia, reserve fines for truant minors and permit to detain (but not arrest) them while skipping school. In Russia, Germany and some parts of the U.S. police officers have power to even handcuff and arrest truant under-18s on streets during the school hours. Strict measures against truancy are usually motivated by compulsory education gaps among children and underage crime surge in big cities.”

Everyone has 1st amendment rights but those rights also come with consequences. Examples: walk out of my class you get a F. Take a knee during the anthem on my football team you’re on the bench.

Rally comes down to how the school handles it. Our school would have called skipping school, would have consequences.
LOL, our school district voted 88% Trump, so no walk out on this topic.

Rights have consequences. The consequences just can't come from the government. LOL unless you're in front of God on judgement day MOST consequences come from the Gov.

Of course they have rights. They also have responsibilities, like attending class, at least up to a certain age. Personally, I hated school. It was a dictatorship. That was never enough excuse skipping class, though.

Seems to be a lot of opinions here. Any links to actual law? No law covers it all. But the Bill of rights amendment to our Constitution is a good start. People are born with rights. and pick up a few more on certain birthdays.
