When both parties agree their items / services are of equal value and make the trade.

As a barter I am accepting of conditions more than value, values are rarely equal.

Depends on the circumstances, usually should be mutually beneficial. For example, I'm currently trading firewood to an older guy for some traps he doesn't use anymore. It's a good deal for me because I work in the timber industry, and get a ton of free firewood to use for a side hustle, so I'm essentially getting a bunch of trapping stuff for my labor and fuel money (minimal), it's a good deal for him because around here a cord of burnable firewood is minimum $350-$400. So I'm only spending like $50 in diesel for $250ish worth of trapping stuff, he on the other hand is trading $250 worth of traps and rigging for roughly $400 worth of wood. Mutually beneficial.

It is what each party subjectively determines THEIR object of value is. Your opinion may be different. A contract / "barter" by Law is a "meeting of the minds" in agreement.

Both parties don't have to agree that the trades are of equal value, they just have to agree to make the trade.

Eh...wot?

Trades that are unequal often have some cash added.

Often, . . . or other considerations ergo, "the meeting of the minds" :-)

I think JediKnight has the monopoly in that. He thinks his stuff is worth gold but expects payment in silver.

The better question might be what does everyone have to barter?

They give you this but you pay for that.
