Haven't seen too many alligators prowling the waters of Western NY but.... a customer gave me about 10 lbs. of alligator meat from a hunt down south. Anyone have experience with using it as a change up bait, particularly for coyotes? Maybe mink?

Was it spoiled or something?

Make sausage out of it and eat it yourself

And if it is jowl meat you need to be buggy whipped if it is not bad for even thinking of feeding it to a coyote wink

Well if you were given jaw/jowl meat is is the best part of a gator to eat, white, tender meat
We grilled it with mango habanero glaze and it was slap yo mama good

My Cajun friend told me that is the best meat on a gator

Had link sausage made from it as well and it was very good

I was just razzing you but don't miss out on some good eats if you get the opportunity wink

Yes I mixed some up a year or two back and used it and had ok results.i did add some trout oil to mine.i would suggest if you try it grind it up and get a decent taint on it and add a Bait solution to it.

Locklear used to have a gator product or two. Dunlap bought him out. I’ll bet Jeff can answer your questions.

I end up with a lot of gator meat after gator season, and i end up giving most of it away. I have used the meat for bait and its been "okay", nothing to get excited about. You need to get some funk to it, but it goes rancid fast. Like Slipknot said, I would grind it, and once it got a little taint add sodium benzoate or something similiar. It works, but there are lot of other things out there I've found that works much better.

I bought a jar of it way back. I got WAY more response out of Federales.
My opinion is that he made it as his version of O'Gorman's rattlesnake-based bait.
