Opposum for sure!! laugh You have to learn how to weld to catch coyotes on your highly modified equipment. Ha, just kidding, hope you catch something canine-ish. If you don't, stay away from the set and just let it soak.

… good luck … I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a coyote or fox tomorrow if they move tonight

Multi weather fronts stacking and aiming your way.

Careful the early-bird sets.
Mr green jeans has to work 3 Sundays in a row
and might be cranky.

You can prep the sets early though.

Nothing today for me! It’s really warm today but we are supposed to get a light snowfall tonight. Perhaps that’ll get em moving.

Nuffin again today fellas. I made a few more sets and also a couple on another line. Been up since 5 and starting to feel it. Supposed to have lunch with mom today. Perhaps a power nap is in order. Here are some pics of other sets

Yeah I am trying to. Known trails. I do have a grey fox I always see on one game cam and I made two sets in that area. I don’t see a whole lot of poop…..besides deer poop.

It appears you are doing some woods trapping. Be careful of how you secure your traps in that woodsy loam soil. That soil isn't well suited for staking for larger predators. Cable extensions fastened to stout near by trees or green logs are best or good drags of sorts.

You need to set the corridors and travel ways etc. for predators.

…. Your grays tend to stay close to thick … coyote will run travel ways for miles

… the high spot on that pipeline in your first pic looks like a good spot

… hopefully the cool spell will bring you some action

Bob i had a heck of a time driving my stakes in. In fact that was the hardest part of my day. I know what you mean about spongy soil, I faced that in the mountains and I couldn’t hardly bed a trap. I have two grapples but they’re not really big ones. Once cables were set I really gave them a good testing…
I’m really considering grapples in the future

Drags will spoil you! They do me anyway I set trails and the site gits preserved.

You night have to wait until all the leftover venison from deer season gits ate up b4 your catch goes up. Just a guess.

Forget staking in woodsy cover areas. Going to loose some animals by them pumping the stakes or cables. Ground is soft and rocky in most cases just due to the environment. Make up some cable extensions of various sizes or if you scout your locations you can make the extensions the length you need. They can be used many times over in most cases down the road.

Use small rocks and sticks to stabilize your traps in that kind of setting. Don't let that situation beat you up. Learn to adapt and you will learn how to do that in time.

Smasher… I like a flashy dirthole for predators… it’ll get their attention even if your wind direction is off

Hooking a foothold on a long extension to something solid is hard on the animal,it is illegal here.
Use a heavy clog they can move - much better.
