Just curious how many guys have a dog (or multiple) run their line with them? And what kind of dog? Also, do you teach them to avoid sets, or just let them figure it out the hard way? [Linked Image]
This is Koda, my 12 week old Karelian Bear Dog. He stuck his nose into a mink pocket this morning and learned a valuable lesson.

I used a dog team for trapline transportation for many years. It's like having 6 trapline companion dogs, but with an illusion of "slight control!"

The leaders (dogs in the front of the team) very quickly learn not to run up to a lynx in a trap or step in a set. From there, its easy to stop the team just short of the set!

I have a pitbull that used to come along when I primarily lived in SE, but he mostly stayed on the boat. It's too cold here for him to come along. He tries bless him, but he just doesn't have the fur for it. But some tweaker was trying to sell a Karelian Bear Dog puppy for gas money at the speedway about a month back, so I bought Koda for $100 and he's been great so far. He's smart as a whip, and -15 doesn't seem to phase him much

I have an Airedale, always had an Airedale I use drags and I don't need any surprises from them long tail cats! They make for some fun interesting times, had some "extra" animals that the dogs bayed or caught from muskrats to the big cats.

Tom, if you get a line on any Airedale pups let me know please. My terrier is getting up there in age.

There is a guy on here who has a cross , that I think Odon Corr was breeding an Airedale/Jack Russell . That might be interesting , Im too old to have two crazy dogs or I would be tempted to get one!

I had a Labrador that would accompany me on the line. He could be trusted to not endanger himself with sets and caught animals. There were many times that he would mark over wolves when there was nothing for me to detect by sight, due to the location being covered with fresh snow.
Great company in the boat, also.

RIP, Dozer. I miss ya buddy…. Got tears rolling now.

Tom, I might be that person. I have two Airedale cross dogs from Odon Corr and Frank Sticka breeding. I also have a pure Airedale that goes all the way. back to my original "Redline" bred Airedale I got from Henry Johnson. [Linked Image]

Looks like you have a handful with them two! Dogs add so much to my life , i was fortunate to have met Odon at the Fur Takers College, bought a couple dogs from him and used his lures for years. The person selling the dogs was from the west, I think?! I bought this last one from a guy in Missouri three years ago, buried my old dog at the gate of the ranch where we had so much fun, caught a coyote the day he died buried him with Pancho, told Wayne and he said if it had been a lion it would of went with him, He was right whatever was in the traps, was going with him! Miss every one of 'em, can't live without a dog(Airedale).
