I've had several trappers ask lately about the best brand of wader that will last several years and stand up to beaver trapping... I said "Bud, buy two pairs and a tube of aquaseal, that way while your fixing one you can wear the other"..... Maybe Im tii rough or its the thick stuff I trap in but that's the only way Ive found to really stay dry...LOL

FWIW2U: Hodgen makes waders with a camo canvas outside, super tough duty. I Armor All them brand new, inside AND out. Hang them upside down in the basement after each use with the legs and feet stuffed with newspaper to absorb the moisture. I also made a boot dryer with my sisters old pancake hair dryer and PVC.

Dans brier proof have been awesome since this spring. I use em even when not going in the water. Storage is important I guess though. Never just tossed in the corner.

I don't get to trap beaver in open water (unless I wait until the middle of May), so bibs/coveralls for me. If it's above 0 I wear Xtra tuff rubber boots, if it's below 0 usually bunny boots. I did fall through the ice today on a creek (it's a mover, it never freezes real solid), I was wet to my waist and not enjoying life for a bit there. I rolled in the dry snow which got most of the water off, then got a fire going and dried everything for real. Waders would have been handy today lol

It doesn't really matter how good/tough the uppers are on waders, or how they take a patch, for me it is alway the rubber feet that crack where they flex and nearly impossible to get a patch to stick.

I've had good luck with using the marine grade "shoe goo" on all my boots and waders. my mucks are practically made out of the stuff as it is now.
