Hope you do well Musty. I've got a big pile of beaver to skin that I hope to have ready by this coming Saturday. Today's going to be a long one for me.

That isn't what I wanted to hear! I guess that's why we put minimums on our lots.

Nice little pinch point paying off! Good deal. Nothing like that available where I trap. I work toilets primarily when after otter. Always love finding any shortcut crossovers too. But rarely have those.

BP, most of my otter trapping is roadside trapping. Within the ROW mostly but we still are required to get written permission. I trap creeks from 5 foot wide to 100 foot wide and try to find the best pinch points within a reasonable walking distance.
Since I don't cover a lot of water it is pretty rare for me to find a toilet. I set the heck out of pond dam or beaver dam crossovers when I can.
I am considering running a line similar to yours next season. I have heard we will have a 72 hour check law on foothold drowning sets next season, so I plan to capitalize on that.
The river I want to trap is about 500 feet wide and has a section about 9-10 miles long that is pretty easily accessed. I plan to set all the feeder creeks for otter and then make a bunch of castor mounds where I can. I think I could get 3 or 4 dozen traps out in that stretch of river pretty easily.
I'd like to employ something like Swamp Wolf's beaver trays to have 2 traps at each castor mound to take advantage of the extended check

CD, you running those on your fancy flat-bottom stabilizers? I have a few locations that look similar to yours that I need to try to figure out.

Those flat bottom stabilizers are the ticket in the rocky creeks. In the creeks with a sandy bottom I run a sort of modified stakealizer type thing modeled after The Hammer's soft bottom stabilizers. Longer notches so I can set Belisle's on the first notch. Two 8" long V shape legs instead of one long stake. The things are rock solid in sand or mud. Just require a good bit of welding to make

I’m not a big fan of the KB’s. I don’t think they get a trap stabilized near enough. I made up some flat bottom stands after The Hammer’s design and I think they do a great job. Just have to move a couple rocks sometimes to get the creek bottom flat
