you don’t have any noticeable clear trails or travel ways located in an area with an assortment of larger rocks thrown about intermixed with sage brush.

I’d set the biggest pile of rocks I could find. Anything that is any bit different than the rest of it. And drainages

Not a pro but would look for any type of landscape that sticks out. Rock piles , brush piles or thickets. Check draws that run through the area.

Use some of the prominent rocks as one guide side and fill in another side area with sage and other debris to make a slight trail walk thru set. Secure your sage with woven branches of sort. What ever is native to the area. Put some LDC call lure and a TBLS of bait on top of the highest object in that immediate area. Or bring in a long stick or branch from another area for your needed height to apply some scent. Secure all to withstand the wind.

Prey animals are not distributed evenly in high desert areas. Try to focus on areas with good rabbit densities. Thicker brushy areas and drainages with water and good feed for rabbits will attract more bobcats. Where you find the prey focus on rocky ridge points and where drainages come together and trails converge. They are sight hunters so use visual attractors as well as 2 or three lures to trigger their curiosity. I like to use walkthroughs with extreme guiding to show them exactly where to put their foot. Use brush, rocks and tree limbs (I carry a sawsall and use it a lot) to create a fence across the travel way then set the trap in the gap.

We caught this one Thursday. My wife is my trapping partner and came out on her lunch break from work to check a few close to town. At least she changed out of her high heels before harvesting this one LOL. Note the reset trap to her right.

Right the at base of the big rock with smells (skunk and bobcat gland), something to catch their eyes (flag and polifil), and noise (swivel on the flag or squeaker if legal).

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Thanks for all your input. Bobcat season starts here in Mid December in Idaho and I am going to try to catch a few.
