From the time you leave your house, to drive wherever you're going, check traps, drive home, skin and put up fur for the day, and you're completely done with trapping related activities for the day.......how many hours, on average, does your trapping take in a given day? Obviously it can vary quite a lot depending on how many critters you catch in a given day.
Today it took me 2 1/2 hours, and I had one raccoon and one beaver to deal with. Anywhere from 2-5 hours is a normal trapping day for me.

Right now Im running 12 marten boxes a couple trail snares and one jackpot close to home. Takes me about 30 minutes to check the sets not counting the 1o minute drive each way from home. In winter nowadays I will run 6 hours per day 2 days a week on the skidoo. Just to add,I dont consider time spent at the trapping cabin in the calculations. Sometimes I just hang out for a few days at the cabin just Kicking back, and just check a few traps on the way in and a few days later on the way out.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

When I'm going full throttle I will run traps from before light to around mid-day, sometimes longer. I will skin till supper time, and if needed skin into the night. In Febuary I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep a day. My lines I drive a UTV, use a pirogue, walk in, etc. I have every type of set you can imagine on my line. I will have sets for coyote, bobcat, fox, beaver, otter, mink, coon and possum. I will drive to check ones on the gaslines and roads, park and walk sloughs, put my pirogue in and paddle to check other sets. The only break I get in Feb and March is doing the veterans trapping event and doing the 3 day trapping events with LTAHA/LDWF.
