My son ran his dogs yesterday and today. 7yo Bella was very lethargic today. He called his wife and got him picked up. 2 or 3 hours later he got home and she was sitting in her kennel sorta dry heaving. She walked into her house. 2 hours later she was dead. Any ideas? Smash?

could have got into poison or something could be health issues. to no for sure on things I take them to Purdue and let their bets check them out and inform me of the problem. it's been a while but I think it's about $250? may be more or less but I think it in that ballpark

Def sounds like GDV/ Bloat although Beagles are not a common breed for that. So sad

My other concern is anaplasmosis and I’m not sure if it is common in your area. Had she been checked for any tick borne diseases? On any decent tick preventions? Was she at all pale? It causes platelet destruction and they can sometimes have injury and internal bleeding if she happened to get hurt somehow but that’s a far cry. A seven year old dog can have a multitude of issues underlying. The retching/ dry heaving can also sometimes be a sign of splenic tumor. Seen it a lot. Or some other type of cancer. Splenic tumors bleed rapidly especially after roughhousing and the animal dies.
I am so sorry for your loss. I’m a beagle lover too

If you suspect this. You can poke the belly region with an 18 ga needle to let the gasses out until help can be achieved. It is a horrible thing. And again I am so sorry

Once that stomach turns over it cuts off the circulation and over a short period of time dies.
