Was on the phone with my cousin and best friend this morning and was told his buddy in West Virginia called him and let him know all his Camara's had bear on them and he can set him up on them from stands or find someone with dogs he could hunt with. I have heard about this friend for several years a true backwoods outdoors man. sometime during the last few he has became a Game warden. He sent the license information link to my cousin since it's been a few years since he has gone down to hunt with him. It sounds very cheap $110 for some out of state fee or license and $10 for bear tag and $10 for deer. Place is rugged with cliffs and steep hills/mountains.
Sounds like a cheap hunting trip would only cost food, gas, and licenses. Lodging at the cabin would be free.
1 I would be a guest of a friend so not sure about trying to take the boys.(I don't really care much about shooting more deer and never been interested in shooting a black bear. 2. I know nothing about what to shoot how to tell a nice boar from female) #3 I would skin it out and have it taned like a rug for the wall and keep and clean the skull but have no clue where to send or take the hide to have the tanning done.
It sounds like a fun trip with my cousin I don't spend enough time with and would be the biggest reason I would go. That and I have wanted to meet his friend for a several years. I don't have any vacation left so would have to be a quick short trip he said season go out on the 8th.
I figured bear would be laid up for the winter by now but I know nothing about them. So should I try to make plans to go if I can work it in and if so any tips and tricks or important things to know?
