Hi. Christmas is coming up and I was curious if anyone knew of any books for teens or early teens with trapping. Not a how to but stories, whether true or fiction. Thanks!

The books by Stephan Meader are all good several are about trapping or have trapping in them or other outdoor therms many here might recognize him from Traplines north but he also wrote many others such as Buffalo and beaver (about the mountain men era) among others

Many of them are being reprinted by Southern sky’s publishing

Look up Dave Vander Meer. He’s got an excellent book about his first RTL in Ontario when he was a young teen. His 2nd book takes place about 4-5 years later on a different line he acquired. He kept a journal while he spent the winter in the bush so it’s pretty detailed. His 2nd book is a bigger one with more pictures, he had a camera by then….lol.

She wore scarlet begonias, tucked into her curls. I knew right away, she was not like other girls.

Maybe not as much about trapping but check out Gary Paulsen. Author of Hatchet, Fox Man, The Winter Room, Father Water Mother Woods, etc. Also check out William Durbin. I like his voyageur books (Broken Blade and Wintering) for young adults. Very relevant and accurate for MN historical information.
