If you have never shot a deer in your undies (or less) from your house then you aren't a true country boy. Does shooting coyotes and bobcats in my underwear out my house window count as true country boy stuff ?

Ethical and legal are two different things.
In my opinion what you did was ethical. I wouldn't compare it to shooting ducks on the water or ground-swatting game birds like Swamp Wolf did. What is the "correct" way to take game? The correct way is any legal way you want to do it.
Eh...wot?

I agree. Ducks on the water, quail on the ground, or deer in the yard...all legal.

I would say a high chance of a clean kill before taking a shot would factor into the ethics debate even if everything else is legal an ethical hunter may pass it up. Shooting off your porch is in and of itself, irrelevant,IMO.

X3 if you don’t like it I’d bet you live where you don’t have the chance. Nothing better than enjoying a cup of coffee and reading the paper when opportunity knocks…. I don’t always have to be cold to enjoy a good harvest! Good on you!

Good kill… I don’t understand the ethical part Agreed. What is the ethics concern? Too easy? Why are we opening these questions to the public? Legal kill is legal. No emotions!

Does taking one from the porch change the flavor or quality of the meals to be prepared? If not then have at it and enjoy the meal

Is it unethical to use lead shot on waterfowl? No...but it's illegal and reportedly has caused the death of thousands of waterfowl that ingested lead pellets in heavily hunted areas. Not even the same issue as deer off the porch.

Is it unethical to use lead shot on waterfowl? No...but it's illegal and reportedly has caused the death of thousands of waterfowl that ingested lead pellets in heavily hunted areas. That would make it both illegal and unethical. However, one could argue that lead shot is more ethical to the individual duck being shot as it probably results in a cleaner quicker kill. Ethics are complicated and subjective.
