My son is building a skinning rig in ffa shop class and was wanting to know what the dimensions are for the metal gambrel with the V cut in each end and bent up at like a 45 degree angle? The old choke chain set up broke on us a few years ago and since we are getting back into trapping he wants to build a skinning machine

Thanks for any help

I had the same idea as you guys of building one but I ended up just buying one since they're only $20 and it's hard to justify building for that price.

I don't have your answer but I will say I just built a gambrel that will handle small game, big game, and hopefully hold a beaver tail.

22" apart for big game hooks
14" apart for small game 3/32 cable loops
middle of bar loop for beaver tail loop.

I think I got the shape from here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSPyx9RgD3Q

This is not the v-cut gambrel, I know, I'm just throwing in my two cents.

Thank you guys very much. I agree they aren’t expensive, just giving the boy something to do for school that he also has an interest in. He might even try putting up a few coons this year just to try and learn. Sometimes the value is in the lesson
