Can a non resident trapping NY use his own trapper Id# or would I have to purchase tags with a NY id# ? I have already called dec and they don’t know and give me a number to call which leads nowhere. Thanks

I believe your trapping license number is your ID if you do not go with name/address on trap tags.

Yes but do the traps need to be tagged with a ny number could I use the pa number? It would have the same information.

Those chuckleheads at DEC should know....I'm not sure but I think you need a non resident license with that ID, maybe they changed it, I've been out of touch for awhile but it used to be you had to have your name and address on the tag, not just an ID#.... Call the hotline again, the CO's take shifts so you'll probably get someone else, just be aware if you call 5 times you'll probably get 5 answers...

I don't think you can use your PA trapper I.D. number in NY. I think the NYDEC would need to issue you a number valid in NY.

When you buy a NY license it will have an ID number on it. That or your name/address needs to be on your tag.
