Do you guys prefer quick links, split rings or j hooks to attach to cables, cable stakes, etc. and why? Any downside of any for particular species? Thank you. Wheels are spinning over here

I cut corners and use J hooks for Fox. If I were targeting coyotes everything would be welded.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I use j hooks. Strong, fit right into the hole in the swivel - easy to use.

J/Hook in the swivel closed on a 1/4" drill bit so I can put a 3/16" quick link in that j/hook
With this setup I can attach the trap to an earth anchor or drag chain or cable extension

Some guy on the YouTube said they can come undone. But I usually use a vice and a pair of pliers to really try and tighten them down

Some brands of split rings are junk! They peel right open, I will not use them again! Use quick links and tighten them. Just get a wrench that fits them and keep it in you bag with your pliers.

I use the large version of these I think of the spring style as quick clip, I’ve never had the nut come loose, I’ve had them stick together more than anything.

This. I tried split rings to connect to earth anchors once. Tore most of them apart underground when pulled up. I still use them for easy connection on water traps and such but I wouldnt trust them for any heavy duty service
