I've heard this sentiment from a lot of people and I would have thought the same. I think our very wet May and June may have wiped out a lot of fawns though. April was very dry here on the Canadian border but May and June were a deluge.....right about the time many fawns were dropping or just dropped. I also think we've got a healthier bear population than we've had in many years. Bears eat a lot of fawns. That's the only thing I can think of for the deer population not making a big jump this year.

Could be we've had wet springs before, but our bear numbers are out of control. We had three baits this year 26 bears on them and lots of twin, triplets cubs I hate to see what the population will look like in the near future.125 bear permits is stupid low, takes 4,5 years now to draw a tag......JUST DUMB!!!!!

Rick the partridge hunting is nothing like last year but then last year was special. Took me awhile to find an area with a decent population of birds. I think I've got 13 so far this year, haven't had much time. I'll have some time in another week or so. Hope to at least double up.

I haven't heard much good from up north but who knows. I've been going east. The rain was tough on them. If we would have had a dry June this year would have been epic

I can't say for sure what the bear population is. Yes it is up but years like this when the berry crop is poor makes it seem like it doubles over night

Been too busy this fall working, but between the wet May,June the grouse are down about 50% from last year.I don't shoot very many any year, but this year I've shot 0,seen a few but didn't shoot any of them. One of my friends gets out a fair amount,he's shot roughly 30 this season.Happy Thanksgiving everyone and if your muzzle loading hunting this weekend, good luck to all.

My middle brother will muzzle load hunt again this year,he enjoys the hunt more,a lot less people out and about..He's shot some good bucks with the smoke pole,I could still archery hunt for a doe,but my freezer is full so I will do just a little trapping instead.
