My buddy got this pic this afternoon and we're looking for some ideas on what it is. This is northeast Wisconsin near the UP. I think it's a gray fox, but the black legs are throwing me off. It has that rusty neck that a lot of grays get. It could be dark from rain/mud, but it's been below freezing for a few days now.

Worth mentioning , compare the size of the animal to the 2 track for size comparison. We all know roughly how big a 2 track road is and the width of a single tire dirt strip.

Not a big animal when you compare to a known fixed object in picture.

We don't have Grey fox here but if they look that much like a house cat I doubt I could tell the difference between the two if I caught one

It's a Maine Coon cat or a Maine Coon cat cross. They are a large breed of domestic cat where the males can weigh up to 22 pounds.

Same clients see a solid grey cat and they’re like “that’s a Russian Blue!”
