There were never many fox on my line just occasionally. I never targeted them. Only a couple times over the years they would eat marten but would quit before I could get set up.

We started to see a very red mature fox in our neighborhood this fall. The dogs are usually quiet but they have been barking off and on. Opening the draped the morning of November 11th there were tracks in the snow right in front of our house. Since then the Fox has revisited at least 5 times and is walking in the exact tracks as the first time. I was a wolf trapper along with other species. I have caught many wolves using their last trip through foot prints to score. I cant remember noticing fox using the same.

I have attached 2 photos indicating my observance and today I am putting a game camera out and see if I can catch the fox on film. I will share the picture if I get one.

Nice.
Fox hanging around can get quite tame if fed a bit and not harassed
We had them every winter visit the bunkhouse in Otter Rapids, and the foxes would take food right out of your hand.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Approach the tracks from a 90° angle, through some brush or anything that will break up your tracks. Use a wooden paddle such as a cedar shingle to cut under the fox traxk from a foot or two away. Then set a foothold directly under the track and place a toggle drag back near where you are standing. Fill the disturbed area with snow and back away.

Hope you and the family had great Thanksgiving. I would use a snare and the neighbors' would also appreciate it also.

Or, just enjoy having one around. Likely learn more about fox behavior than 20 years of chasing them.

We have a couple that visit around the house every year. I think it is from having a spot where I used to cut up frozen beaver with a saw for martin trapping. The small shavings and trimmings brought them in and now I think it is just a habit of them coming through. We get them on the house camera's occasionally. However there are also neighborhood dogs that like to visit as well. I don't think I would ever trap them as I like them coming to eat the voles and the dead squirrels (I hate red squirrels so will trap and shoot them year round) and I would never want to get one of my neighbors dogs.
