I'm researching Mink and I need some references of personable knowledge. I haven't had any luck locally; all I need is for you to share what you know about mink habitat and trapping them? (I'm forestry student at central oregon community college)

They like the edge of waterways large and small, particularly where there's structure for them to hunt and hide in. They're very active, always on the move/hunting. They eat anything they can catch (fish, frogs, birds, muskrat, etc.).

The chapter on mink is written by our member Gulo.

You may have to ask for the book as some libraries keep it in a secured collection

Mink are huggers. They love to run the water edges up tight to edge.Set blind sets just covered by water with that loose jaw right up against the edge set on hair trigger. No pan tention.

Grassy trails up and over the road instead of through a Culvert. Blend in a 110 with a hair trigger in the grass. Not all mink will travel in the water.

Not to be nitpicking but it’s mink whether one or a hundred, like sheep. In a nutshell mink are not hard to trap but they are very unpredictable, they are on the go all the time checking anywhere for food, on the edge of a water source, underwater or far from water on dry land.

By far the easiest fur bearer to trap in my opinion. They hunt kill and breed. Find what triggers that kill response and it's game over!

I'm not sure how much this will help.
Have you tried YouTube and
Joseph Carter , the Mink Man
Channel.
Watching him train. And hunt with mink
Gave me a lot of insight on the animal and it's habits.
Maybe it will help you some.

For those of you that have read this book, is it something that’s worth the purchase? It looks very interesting but I see it also has a hefty price tag with it.
