I was teasing my sons friend about his being able to fit inside the bigger one.

Here's the thing about that garage. My wife's grandfather built that in 1928. He was a guide for one of the local land barons up here. They would have company and political bigwigs come in to hunt at his lodge. Teddy R. once hunted out of his lodge. When they would get a deer/bear the guides would bring it to my GFIL's garage to be skun and cut up. Over the years there have been thousands of deer brought into that garage to be skinned out.

My FIL started a thing that if you needed a place to skin your deer out you could bring it to the garage and skin it out and let it hang. He wanted nothing in return. His only rule was your deer had to be tagged until you took it home. If it wasn't it would be in a pile out back. I've kept that tradition going. Last year 47 deer were hung and skinned in it.

Even on warm winter days it rarely gets about 45 degrees. The first year they instituted herd reduction we had 22 deer hanging in it at one time. That years total was 110 deer that hung in it. The garage is never locked. The only thing I've done is to put a written "toe" tag on each deer so that it's easier for people to fined theirs. Once deer season was over and all the deer were out my FIL would use the fat to heat it.
