Please send URL for research that a skunk cannot spray with tail down.

I'd advise anything from a #120 to a #220.

I have caught quite a few of skunk in 120's set for mink; however, they were smaller skunk. I prefer 160 to meet our laws and 220 if allowed most all skunk will not shy away from body grips and I think I've even had 7 or 8 in a row on a good run until they started spraying again. Don't ever believe there is 100% method of a skunk not spraying, the odds are with the skunk.

Best trap I have found for skunks specifically is the sauvageau C-120 magnum. It is a 120 size trap with 220 size springs,a pitchfork trigger and kill bars on the jaws.
Puts their lights out.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Then set your 120 trap close to the bait so the skunk is stable at the bait and working it with only its head thru the trap jaws.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

All these were caught in a duke 110 magnum and none of these sprayed. I caught 8 in 9 days at a small hole on this job and only one sprayed. Generally the spray rate with a 110 size trap is about 10% for me. Bumping up to a 5" trap it is a little bit higher because the catch is a little further back.

I just read an article on skunk trapping but can’t recall which mag. The guy used 150s with the wires spread about 2.5-3” apart IIRC. Since he changed to that set up, he’d caught 30ish skunks with no spraying. I gave my box of mags to a younger trapper a few weeks ago but will look through my new pile. I’m thinking American Trapper or Trappers Post.

220's are too big in my opinion, too many suitcases causing pressure on the lower abdomen. I prefer a 120 Belisle.

I don't have any Beidger 120's to compare.

Not according to F&T, they're both a 4.5"x4.5" opening.

I use victor 120's for skunks in boxes and trail sets. I have never had a problem with them moving one inch. They are always dead with no spraying. Skunk heads are relatively small and they have no problem sticking it in a 120

160s work for me. I Target chucks but always get occasional possums and skunks.

I know the original post was about body grip traps. But I’ll stick with DPs and acetone
