5x5 traps are the biggest thing we can use in Missouri. My son has taken an interest in trapping after he dug my traps out of the shop. He is wanting to run some 5x5 during the week for coons. What are the best ones to get? I would like to buy him quality traps that will last him. Also what size body grip for skunks?

Thank you for any help

Belisles are hard to beat for conibears, but there's nothing wrong with the dukes or any like that. I would stay away from Bridgers though as they have issues with the springs going around the corners and being a pain to get back into place, the triggers are very floppy, and the safeties aren't the best. The Belisles have the best safety on the market and are a very good trap. I've heard of guys running 120's for skunks and they seem to work pretty good.

If you can find the victor/northwoods traps somewhere i like them best no problems with dukes eitherdid not care for the bridgers short stubby springs and small eyes that wouldn't fit over the jaw hinge I would think the Belisles are very good but the dukes and now unavailable vics kill them just as dead Good on skunk and possum but our coons reach in or just walk by However i never tried them vertical with the opening down

CTM 5x5 are the ones I've been using for the last 20 years.

belisles 120s arent quite 5x5

CTM 5x5 were my favorites for dryland coon till the 5x7 trap was invented.
