I have to wonder when they will make the move to outlaw elk hunting. That brings big bucks into the state from nonresidents and they will have a fight on their hands there.

When the percieved value/worth is removed from any species of wildlife it is no longer "managed" and is then looked upon as a nuisance as numbers increase.
It is the sad result of the animal rights nonsense we constantly battle as hunters, trappers, and even fishermen.

It seems like Colorado would be a trappers paradise....it's amazing to me their game commission would go along with a rule like that. Biologists know trapping is an effective means to regulate populations, harvest beautiful fur and meat, and provide a recreational activity. It's why I will never give up my memberships to the NTA, Fur Takers, and the MTPCA....those organizations do a lot of good work. How does any state wildlife agency resist, a State Constitutional Amendment voted on and passed by the public? Even the legislature can't fix that, much less "The Game Commission". Anyway the "Boy Queen of Colorado" is an animal rights activist extraordinaire.

https://www.freep.com/story/news/na...lorado-springs-thanksgiving/76699620007/I believe in Colorado the use of coil spring foot hold traps is illegal. Here is a perfect example of the necessity of trapping. Over populated animal populations in close proximity to people. Now, government efforts have to be deployed to cull the animals. Super silly in my opinion, especially when there are thousands of sportsmen who would do it because they love the outdoors. In Colorado all types of foothold traps, conibears, snares, etc. are illegal for the purpose of catching animals for the fur. We just defeated a ballot initiative to ban cage traps.

Colorado is in the process today of reducing nonresident hunting licenses. Wolves need something to eat. Besides, most of NW Colorado lost a huge percentage of large ungulates to the winter of 2022-2023, so there is a lot less opportunity to actually get an elk, deer or antelope. The new rule book is online. After three consecutive posts I'm done, yes I'm not happy about where this state has gone.

I have to wonder when they will make the move to outlaw elk hunting. That brings big bucks into the state from nonresidents and they will have a fight on their hands there. Having hunted elk in CO for about 20 years, too many anti-hunting left wingers have moved into the state and are behind the banning of trapping. If they have their way, hunting will be next. Was told by a CO outfitter that the damage has to be very extreme before they allow a trapper to get involved in removing nuisance animals.
Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.

One of the most aggravating things I saw that came out of that were the hunters that showed their support for it.The antis played that up big time.

I wonder if the anti's refered to trapping as a sport in thier ballot initiative? They called it callous profiteering of the state's wildlife that we all own. This on the bobcat one that the antis lost?
Who is John Galt?

Hunters supporting that are cutting their own throats when it comes to the future of hunting, as that could be the next thing the antis will want banned.
