I dont think its an age thing. I think its that you are seen as the mature one that everyone goes to for solid advice. Some people reach that marurity level at younger ages than others, and unfortunately some never reach it. Take them coming to you as a complement. Dont see it as your the grumpy old guy.

Your entitled to oxygen. Everything else is earned.

Starting out hardcore in Romans.

I suggest Genesis. Read it as a story and follow along. Try to get past all the hereto forthwith and thereunto.

I like the ESV for ease of reading.

There will be pro KJV people on here in the next few posts so fair warning.

I have read kjv, niv, esv and I feel just as blessed with one as the other.

I agree. I prefer the New American Standard version. Meaning is the same as the KJV version, but written as a more modern, easier to interpret version of the bible.

The positive thing I can say for having crested my 20's and entering my 30's a couple years ago, is nowadays when I offer a suggestion or idea at work, nobody looks at me like I'm stupid, they take the advice and keep it rolling. I've been called a stupid kid a million times in my life, even when I was totally right. I grew up in logging camps, so I was a good mechanic, welder, and a darn good timber cutter, way before I looked old enough to know anything about anything. So I used to offer suggestions and get laughed at, now I have enough salt and pepper in my sideburns that people listen more and laugh less. Just an observation about aging, I could have helped you at 15 years old with most any problem I can help you fix today, but now I look like I know what I'm doing I guess lol

I always had trouble understanding the King James version, I found it a bit like reading Shakespeare. I have several versions that I read but what helped me the most was an NIV study bible. The study notes helped me greatly. For example, when Solomon took over for David he had his brother executed for asking for one of David's concubines. I always wondered why. I never realized until I read the study notes that having the concubine could be seen as a claim in the kingdom. Keep up with it, it seems like every time I read it I see something I never noticed before.
