I only had (2) 330s out for a week and managed to (accidentally) fill both otter tags. The first picture was taken on the family forty which was unfortunately trapped out of beaver by the USDA several weeks before the season opened. The second was taken off a beaver feed bed on public land.

Congratulations on your otter! Question about the USDA trapper though. Did someone in your family request they trap there or did USDA do it on their own?

What? You let WS trap the “family forty”

That would be a HARD NO!

I believe the township called them. We were not contacted, except by a neighbor down the road that the USDA would likely be called.

We did/would not allow that. They didn't contact us.

If the township contacted them because of a plugged culvert and they only trapped on the right of way probably not much you could have done to prevent it. But if they had to trap on your family's property I believe they are required to notify you. In which case I believe they should have deferred to you if you wanted to trap them.

Good job! And congratulations. Too bad about the beaver trapping part though. I enjoy your posts. Keep at it young man.

Congrats on the otters

Like already said, if they trapped ROW no foul. If they accessed private property without permission I would be raising a big stink with someone and it would not happen twice

Congrats on the otter. Very nice!

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Not sue how it is in WI. In MN if it is a county ditch the landowner has no say as to what can be done. All county ditches have 16 ft ( I think it's 16 ft) walking easement and a 60 foot maint. easement. Not for public use just maint. Landowners are usually contacted and usually cooperative. On public waterways, the landowners have to give permission for beaver removal and can say no,
