I traded off the gun I was using for calling so Im gonna use my one AR I got several years ago. I need a trigger to replace the horrendous factory trigger. It will be used for one thing-calling coyote. No 3 gun, very minimal range time. I know the difference between a single and double stage, but have never shot a double stage on a rifle so I dont know that I want to start now. My fear is feeling it through a thick glove, as it’s often below zero when I hunt.

Im leaning toward a 4 lb single stage. Is 3 lb getting too light to feel with bulky gloves? Looking for suggestions. Would like to stay 130 or under is possible.

I use a 3 # if I recall correctly. I also bought a trigger guard that is bowed down to accommodate thicker gloves.

I have a couple of the rise armament triggers, they're nice and I don't remember them being real expensive

Thick gloves dont cause you any surprises while starting to pull on the 3# do they? Im not worried about getting my finger into the trigger guard, im worried about being able to feel the trigger pushing through all that insulation. Ive been getting pain in my fingertips of my shooting hand when its “kinda” cold. Im gonna have to wear liners under heavy gloves this year when it actually gets cold.

Never noticed it myself, but maybe if your gloves are that heavy. I actually have some gloves with mittens over the fingers that you can fold back when you are ready to shoot. Something along those lines may work for you. My trigger is rise armament as well, great for hunting IMO.

I wear liners under mittens which have a wrist band and a string they can hang from. So I just pull the right side off with my teeth when I need to shoot. So I'm not sure, I might have to experiment with some other gloves to find out

I have a CMC 3lb on one and a trigger tech diamond on another (don’t recommend for your application). The CMC was on sale for $99 during Black Friday.

I rarely pull a trigger with gloves on no matter the temp, but our temps rarely dip below zero for long.

I bought an AR mainly because the liberals don’t want me to have one. My Delton had a decent trigger once you got past way too much over travel. You can buy a kit that you replace the grip screw with one that has a small set screw to adjust over travel. Fixed the trigger issues for $20

not sure how bad your trigger is , but try this on any of them it makes a difference
good stuff to have around any way you clean and leave the lube behind and it doesn't collect dust and carbon the way wet lube does.

it does a fair amount to make many triggers better smother , you won't reduce spring pull but a clean 4# trigger or a gritty 4# trigger makes a big difference all by it's self.

https://www.acehardware.com/departm...luids-and-lubrication/lubricants/1014093 wd-40 specialist ptfe
https://blasterproducts.com/product/dry-lube/
https://www.hornady.com/reloading/case-care/lubes-and-cleaners/one-shot-cleaners

I have used all 3 products and they seem to operator about the same.
blaster seems to leave a white residue where the others didn't that doesn't seem to cause any issues that I can tell.

most every trigger group gets cleaned out with one of these three , 870 and 500s seems to get smoother ,the trigger pull scale doesn't change much maybe a half pound , but the smoothness getting to the break does
my 500 is breaking at 4.5# and it is very smooth , not sure I would want it any lighter with gloves.

ALG ACT is a decently budget conscious clean breaking but not too light trigger that doesn't cause light strike issues , it will be standard M16/M4 spec for weight but cleaner.
a clean breaking 5.5# trigger is not that bad especially with gloves on

this stuff is also great for locks on gates , doors , cars because warm or cold is no difference.

I also run Magpul trigger guards on all of my ARs they give me enough room with gloves midwest makes one that might be a little larger yet
I have xxl hands

LaRue makes the highest quality best price drop in I have found. It is a 2 stage but I have become to prefer it over my break like glass 3 lp single stages. you can get strait or curved trigger shoes.

I've heard nothing but good things about Larue triggers but have never tried one.

Personally I like the Geissele SSA e. It's a two stage trigger but once you get used to one(it doesn't take very long) they are nice. Palmetto has them on sale for 149.99. In your price range I've also used Timney Impact. Pull weigh on the impact is 3-4 pounds. The Geissele is 2.3 on the first stage 1.2 on the second.

I don't think you will get "surprised", at least rarely, with any good trigger and heavy gloves.

The average mil spec trigger is junk.

the LaRue is as good or better on pull and machined out of tool steel not cast. when they first came out they cost more than Geissele but stream lined manufacturing and brought the prices down. I don't know what they are now but I got mine for $89. It's very nice and in a trigger snob. Geissele are great but they bring nothing more and cost more.

The last time I looked the Larue's were in the 115 dollar range.

As I said, I've heard nothing but good about them yet never used one. It's hard to recommend something a guy hasn't used

if you were closer I'd love to let you try mine. I only got it on a recommendation and didn't thin I would like it but figured for the price to give it a shot. turned out well this time. Typically when I do things like that I'm disappointed. If they are so close in price and I had some I liked I wouldn't buy anything else and keep them all the same from rifle to rifle

I also run nothing but the Geissele SSA- E, our group has them in all of our ARs (9) and have never had a problem and in my opinion the best. FWIW
