Congrats on your lab pup. They are the greatest pet. The puppy years are the toughest
I always wanted a chocolate. Waited until I retired so I could put the time in to her. I’m convinced the more time ya put in to them as pups, the better dog they will be. Always had females as they seem to be more eager to please. Not this one. She always wants to do what she wants to do. She’s flat out crazy. We walk 3x a day and play frisbee for 15-20 minutes. Every day. It’s always sunny and 50 degrees for her. I get a little break on hot, humid summer days. She’ll retrieve all day. No quit in this girl. She turned 2 in August and now we have more good days than bad days. Every now and then, the demon inside her awakens. Like today
She’s a great dog. I’m sure yours will be too. Enjoy the ride

Beautiful pup, Mac! Way to go!

My Lab ha to be put down a couple years ago and the last two duck seasons have been rough without a dog. Will be retiring soon and it will be time for me to get a pup, probably Lab. I can hardly wait!

I'm kind of right where you were Mac and finally pulled the trigger on a new pup as well about 1 month ago. We had been dogless for about 6 years after the last one died. My wife was opposed to getting another dog but her son (my stepson) and I prevailed and now we are a family of four! The amount of pure unconditional love you get from a puppy has come at a very good time for my stepson as he is going through some rough times. Sammy has absolutely made his life 1000X better.

Glad you found your companion and soul mate Mac!

I decided I wanted to go back to bird hunting but not having is no fun so I'm going to get a pup, have my name on a list for one this coming spring. My right leg has something going on really painful/crippling and have to use a walikg stick and painkillers but traing for retreiving really should be pretty do able. Luckily my place here is big enough I can get some pigeons and train for upland as well. Depending how crippled your are it could still be possible

Mac is tough as a hunerd year old hedge post. He will figure something out.
