Would a painted trap hurt my chances at all? Thanks in advance

I have some white Dps I bought used. The color does not seem to help or hurt my catch.

I dont think it would hurt as long as you do it well before setting it so it can air out. I don't think most people give enough thought about scent control because "It's just a Raccoon" but the fresh paint smell might have the opposite affect than you want. I agree that the color only makes a difference to us. I use white dps in areas out of view of the public and brown ones where someone driving by might be able to see them to avoid any problems.

First coon you catch will take 90% of the paint off anyway.

The first dog proofs came with a directions paper which said that painting them white was an advantage.

I painted mine with metallic white paint and caught plenty of coon with them.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

I do not believe you increase or decrease your chances by painting them any particular color. If they are set correctly, the coons will be tripping over them,. They don't need to visually stand out.

UN helmet blue this last year caught in them just fine , easy to see in the grass and farm and fleet was selling that color for 1.88 a can so I bought a bunch

for me it just needs to be not blending in

I am mostly trapping private property around barns and sheds

I'd say no I've oversprayed a few times and got them pink or blue and green and they still worked just fine
