Anyone who has to deal with gout?
I've had a few big toe flare ups, and it hasn't been too bad. But the other day about 2 in the afternoon my ankle totally failed me I couldn't even walk or put any weight on It. I thought what Is going on now. I never even thought about gout being an issue. But I figured with some ice packs and rest it would be Ok. Well, that didn't happen. A buddy stopped by with some beaver he wanted put up and I told him my problem he asked me if I ever had any gout issues, I said I did. He said that might be your problem. I never figured gout effecting other joints. So, I took a green MAGIC pill and another close to bedtime I toddled off to I was feeling a bit better. This morning, I was just about back to normal with still a bit of pain, So I popped another green Magic pill.
Anyone else deal with gout in other joints other than your toes?
It was so painful i thought I torn something in my ankle.

First of all, no to gout, but I'm intrigued...what's a "green magic pill?" and what else does it fix?, lol
Supposedly sour cherry juice helps with gout....

It's been a while since I had gout but the concentrated black cherry juice seemed to knock it down. You can get the concentrated cherry juice at a health food / vitamin store. I would take a few good sips from the bottle about three times a day..

I've had gout for close to 30 years.ive had it in knees.wrist.thumbs.ankles and big toes.i take cloroys off and on and drink cherry juice.iam assuming his 'green magic pill' is indomethicin that helps with swelling in joints.it sucks I try to eat the right foods but it doesn't always work.red meats fat alcohol and high fructose corn syrup pork venison cod seafood are all culprits you almost have to be a vegetarian according to the drs.

Had it a long time ago. Even one time after a fur auction were I stood most of the day I got home and had to have the wife cut my shoe off because the pain was so bad. I tried a lot of medications that worked some. Even got a shot one time that was great. Don’t remember what is was but was not practical due to drive to doctor etc. he retired now but he put me ( doctor called it an old remedy) which was probenecid tabs 500 mg. Take 1 tablet twice a day. It worked on me like a charm. I have not had it in 10 or more years but always kept medicine bottle with gout written on top. Maybe this will help. Ask your doctor about Probenecid. May not help you but worked with my body. I feel for you as I remember the pain

I have had qout attacks for 15 years or so. Most are painful but last a couple days only. I have had two really painful ones that lasted a week. similar pain to yours. Went to the foot doctor and that is what she identified. I don't drink any alcohol but have cut back on red meat. I don't take anything for it other than pain relief pills. I do some cherry juice, but also mix the tart cherries in my jams as well. Gout is like acute arthritis. I have it in the larger bones below my big toe, the ankle and the arch. I too felt like I had broken or tore something when the hard bouts come. Good to know now it is not.
Gotta watch stuff like asparugus which I really like.

I had debilitating bouts of Gout, and take 2 Allopurinol pills a day. No more problems.

I have had about six flare ups all but one was in my big toe. the other was in my ankle and i thought i had broke it lol it hurt so bad i couldnt walk. Now taking daily medicine

Had it in the knuckle of my hand. The crystals nearly cut my tendon in two. Had surgery to repair. Watch what I eat now. Lots of celery helps also and good omega-3

Same here. Eat and drink what I want to now. Before allopurinol I would have to use crutches for weeks sometimes. Even the weight of a bedsheet was too much on my large toe. I also use to get it bad in my left elbow. Would feel like ground glass was in it.

X2 I haven't needed a magic green pill (indomethicin) for gout for years. Screw them home remedies, see your doc and stop suffering.

Not only that but even when the uric acid in your joints isn't causing pain, it's still destroying your joints. You need the allopurinol to control the acid.

Allopurinol works for me. As a side, and important, benefit I have not had a kidney stone in 5 years since starting it.

Allopurinol here also. I try to watch what I eat. Uric acid in the blood stream is the culprit. I agree with ADC, screw home remedies, and as far as I’m concerned, cherry juice used during an acute flare up, is like adding oil after the engine locks up! Lol

Get yourself a permanent script of Allopurinol
from your general practitioner or urologist.
It will stop you from ever having another gout attack.
This med WILL NOT cure gout if you already have it,
but you'll most likely never have another one.

I have not had any side effects that I know of
but 100% prevention of this scourge

I was taking two Allupurinol (sp) each night but cut back to just one. I lost a kidney to cancer so I have to be kind to my good one. That med is not so kidney friendly.

I have had 3 or 4 attacks, probably a couple years between.

Did some reading. Alcohol is the culprit. Cherry juice is the cure.

I now mix cherry juice into my shine.
