Just watched a movie I did not know was out there done I guess in the 50s as it was not in color but good movie with Kirk Douglas. Big Sky is based on the book with same title by A. B Guthrie some what based on a trapping expedition going up the Missouri River in the early 1800s. good movie and as usual some Hollywood. Had to order it from the library but a good movie. A lot of it as far as I could tell was filmed in Wy, near Jackson with the Grand Tetons and on the snake river some also on the Missouri. I plan to read the book again, that and Crow Killer some of my favorites

Older movie may have to order on line or through the library I was surprised to see the Wy, Tetons and they must have got a local Native American tribe for extras as most were not Wapaho Indians. Boone even had his double barrel rifle, as always some Hollywood but a good movie.

I'll bet I have read The Big Sky at least five times. If you like that one .....don't miss the sequels. The Way West, and Fair Land, Fair land

These Thousand Hills picks up the story again.... back in Montana.... of one of the families portrayed in The Way West.

The only reason I found out about the movie was I visited the old Fort Benton historic site on the Missouri River in Fort Benton Mt. one of the displays on the river walk was the keel boat used to make the movie. Great site to visit not a military fort but for fur trade and buffalo hides really interesting place to spend a day there.

Looks like it could be on TCM channel…..Turner Classic Movies. It’s on their site. Says it’s here too…Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Plex
