I'm just rough skinning and selling green. Fold once and freeze. I'm told you're only going to get around 3bucks more for fully put up beaver. I'm putting up a beaver for $3.00

I've used an air tacker on them before I just put a spacer between the striker for how high I wanted the nail out,

Works great !!

Are you doing them to sell or for your self to tan later? If for your self doesn't really matter does it? Only has to work for you..

They aren't worth it anymore. I have some roughed out also and that is as far as I'm going too.

I used to use one of those hand staplers the cable guys use. Left a nice loop of staple up to pop back out. Made that part of the put up operation a very quick one.

Wild Furs of Medford Wi has put bvr up with minimum nails for years and sends to his preferred buyer. Doesnt make a differance if you use 100 nails or 20 the bvr tans out the same

Just skin and freeze, then sell to groenewold.....way less work, I mean, I like fleshing a beaver as much as the next guy, but their process actually keeps trapping fun.

Did 3 this morning in about 10 minutes,
Thawing in basement right now, will post a couple pics soon Pulled 3 more out of the freezer to do tonight after I come back from checking a few marten traps.
Was minus 25 this morning with the windchill, sharpened up the scraper and they were clean as a whistle in no time.
Hope the cold weather holds I got 2 freezers full of fur to put up and frostscraping is for lazy people like me,lol I am only limited by the number of boards I have I want to have all good ones done before the FHA convention which is the LRD for the March auction.Frostscraped beaver dry in a day so it frees up the boards.Supposed to be minus 27c tonight.
Selling frozen to a middleman is probably a good method for those who dont like putting up fur or dont know how to do it fast and efficient.
I get some good garment quality skins, nice darks that would never realize their true value if selling frozen.

Yep half way through mine and my fingers are getting sore hitting them with a hammer. That's the problem with reusing the nails after so many years.

90% of my fur beavers are taken with 330s,Gary.
In winter I will also use snares under ice sometimes.
Any nuisance beaver that dont like 330s go down a slide wire wearing a bracelet or they get introduced to Uncle Buck.
