Here is one, unfired. 7 mag.
There are more north of the border than south I believe, they did not import them all that many years. They trace their lineage to back before the Gustaf Stads days, the 1800’s. Great Mauser actions, great shooters.

To add: back in maybe 78 a gun shop I knew of went under. The owner had some guns he let go fast. There were two that interested me, the above rifle and a 7 mag Sako. Both with nice new scopes he had put on.
I could afford one. For giggles I said I could afford both rifles if he would sell them without the scopes. He did just that, so I bought both.
I’ve owned other Husky’s since and they are great guns. I’m currently looking for a particular one. The one pictured above was always too darn pretty to take out and scratch up hence it has lived a locked away life.

I’ve been looking at them on Simpson guns and a few other places. Is that a crown grade gun in the pic?

I have an old husky .30--06 that I got in trade. Not sure what model or anything, but it is one of the rifles ever made lol. Nothing special about them, but they shoot. I seldom use anything as big as a .30-06, it's mostly a back up rifle for friends and family to hunt with. Personally I close the gap to about 100 yards and zip a 55gr .223 through an eyeball

The gun is actually an Imperial grade, model 6000. An Imperial has just that stamped on the barrel. The barrel on an Imperial is 24”. The Imperials also have upgraded wood and a special trigger design.

Husky’s come in many grades and configurations. I know a couple of collector/shooters who are crazy on them for the Mauser actions and workmanship.
The Swedes know their stuff. Basically .243, .270, .308, and 30.06, 7mag for the Imperial models, they were not a long production run. I’ve been told the 7 mag was the least imported and hardest to come by. I did not buy this one with that in mind.
There are more in Canada I was told because they have imported them much longer up there than was allowed here. I don’t know the reasoning behind that.

So yours would be the push feed model correct? Not the control round feed like the Mauser?

No, the one pictured is a controlled feed.
The actions are Swedish re-design of the German Mauser actions. Silky smooth that’s for sure.
When I’ve gone with the collectors I’ve mentioned, we’ve shot a bunch of the different calibers. All shooters that’s a fact. The others I’ve owned were extremely accurate.

To your original question Blue…. The 1600 and 1640 are pretty much the same small ring actions, subtle little change. (I made a call) the 1640 denotes more difference in the other style and feature points of the rifle

Looking for the Husqvarna Vapen…whatever on the barrel is a good thing… (HVA). Smith and Wesson brought them into the U S under their trademark. I think some company called Tradewinds was a big Canadian importer. Dredging my memory from readings a long time ago.

The Imperials and many other Husky models actually are really good looking rifles. Check if you get your hands on one, the checkering was done by hand. You can see the bit of overlap and line spacings that are just a touch off. Makes me wonder about the person who did it and how many per week could they get done. I had the carvers name tag and original box until a long time ago Ex threw both away.

Look up midway USA on YouTube. There is a video of Larry potterfield hand checkering a rifle showing how to do it and all the steps involved. Very slow and tedious process. I always liked watching his gunsmithing videos.

Looking at the various stocks it’s hard to decide which style I like best.

They are all decent. If your going to use the rifle I’d look for a more basic finish. I’d read years ago that some models like my Imperial have almost a liquid plastic finish for gloss and durability. If that’s the case I think any re-finish would be difficult.

I’ve seen a lot of beautiful Husky models with what looks like a great hand rubbed finish, where the gloss finish is more of a throwback to “ look it’s a Weatherby” days.
One of these days I’d like to find the action only from a 6000 and have gun built around it. Probably .243 caliber.
