I’d use them here more but afraid of the tremendous amount of non targets free roaming around . I do set a few in Feb. after hunting seasons are closed. My biggest fear here is some kid setting buckets a couple hundred yards behind a subdivision thinking it’s a long ways back. I asked one time why western trappers didn’t use them under rock outcrops more. I have a friend or two that use them for cats and are very successful.

For sure would need to be selective using those around pets and people as with any BGs on land.

Should work. Just won't be able to release a bcat. Not sure if your state has limits.

We have a limit of five. I released several small and females last week. Hope to start finding Toms. I don’t know how it is elsewhere but you can be on sole permission property here and a pack of hounds and hunters may roll through at 0200. Wouldn’t be our fault day or night in that case but the cover of darkness seems to make the fences and no trespassing signs disappear.

Well the footholds are live traps. That’s what I use mainly. Last week I used my own cat lures but there are several good brands out there. The key is to have cats to catch. I was in the thick stuff and I think thats why the kittens and females. Hard to beat beaver scrapings for bait but rabbit is good, duck scraps are good if you can get them. Eye appeal is a plus. Southern Illinois has always looked catty to me when driving across it.
