Some pics from southwest Georgia this week. These are county dirt roads that traverse large quail plantations near where I'm trapping beavers.

This is between Thomasville, Ga and Tallahassee, Fl. Beautiful woodlands in that area. Largest continuous block of old South plantations in the US. Miles and miles of red dirt roads thru large old growth open pine forests and only pass a couple of homes....and they are plantation employee residences/barns/bird dog kennels.

All are owned by big money families or their heirs, or large corporations....Western Union, Maybelline, Victoria Secret, Ford family (automobile company), etc...

Incredible. Those are Live Oak mixed in, right?

Imagine those trees could tell a few stories.

Yes....live oaks.

With the yellow-leafed sweet gums and red-leafed red oaks mixed in.

Sure looks like some nice country!
Those cut in roads would fill in with snow pretty fast here. Not much of a worry down there!

Sure is different than what im used to. Doesnt appear one has to worry about driving off the road down there...youd just keep bouncing between the dirt sides.

1st one down those red clay roads after an inch or two rain will bounce off those "walls."

Most of the roads in this area used to be old wagon roads from the 1800s.
