I haven't been everywhere, but I have been to a lot of the 50 states. I have even visited several foreign countries. I will say when it comes to litter the south...NC and SC have to be the worst. You can't go anywhere on a road, field, lake, creek, and see trash. I have always found it mind boggling in these two states you have pay to have garbage stations that have to be supervised because people still can't comply with the "trash goes into the dumpster" idea. I have set up many a crossovers and the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) is full of trash, heck I've even used some for blocking. I find it real interesting that when they cut the weeds or grass on the side the road "twice" a year it's cut into a million more pieces and looks worse. Anyway..rant over.. Boss your post inspired me. NC citizens show some respect and class. It's embarrassing and I'm not from here.

What's it like in your state?

Maine is pretty good about trash.The highways are kept picked up.

Take a peek at Omaha. Or Topeka. Ppl are pigs. Period.

I make it a point to ALWAYS leave a spot cleaner than I find it. I've been a pathological recycler since '72, Just imagine the pile of crap I've put to another use in 50 some years.

Pretty clean up here except summer weekends when the Milwaukee and Chicago people trash the place.

When my wife and son drove to Texas they went through Arkansas, She said the trash and garbage was the worst she's ever seen, no disrespect to the folks here from there , but she said it was bad.

Back in February 1987 I work a dive job on the Ohio river. We were south of Cincinnati near little town called Ripley. Anyways we were at the boat land one day eating lunch. Guy from town comes by wanted to know what us crazy guy doing in river In winter. Conversation went to how similar yet different the river was up north in Wisconsin where we came from. I mentioned about all the trash along the river bank was nothing like that at home. The guy said oh we clean that stuff up every spring??? I didn't say anything to him. The places I was talking about looked like what I know here as farm dump. Anything and everything you could think of appliances and car bodies. If it wasn't something that looked like it accumulate just since last spring clean up.
I'm not naive I know there are places here where things were pushed in to hold the river bank. But that practice stopped long time ago and most is covered up or taken out.
Here it is relatively clean than some places I've been. That said we still have people throwing the dangest things out at boat landings.

Some people are lazy others just slobs.

In Florida the cities hire folks with their only purpose is to pick trash from the roadsides daily
Ppl are swine.

In Ohio, you can tell when you've entered a neighborhood of foreigners by the trash strewn about. Neighborhoods made up primarily of Hispanics, Africans, Indians and Bhutanese are disgusting.

.. one time an inmates kin stashed a bag of meth on the side of the road for him .., the little jail was hoppin that night from what I hear lol

Wisconsin in the sixties and early seventies was terrible for roadside trash, but since with litter laws its actually very clean, atleast along the big roads.

I would like to see people who litter get public flogging.

Here it’s pretty good, volunteers pick up garbage but it’s not too bad to begin with, our wind helps here it blows it all to Illinois.

I always try and pick up what i can pack out. When i had my side by side i would cruise the river and pic up cans and other trash. Gets real bad over in great bend with the homeless living on the river.

County has the "good" inmates picking along county roads a couple times a year, then they leave the full bags on the side of the road for weeks waiting for the road crew to pick them up, lol

Oregon used to be a pretty clean state. Being called a litterbug was quite an insult. We are the original bottle and can deposit state. Also our Governor Tom McCall led the charge to clean up polluted rivers in the 60's and early 70's.

But with the homeless situation in the last 20 years or so we have become pretty bad.

I live on the edge of our small town. Most days I take a two mile walk and carry a sack with me to pick up trash. Figure its just a little more exercise. Surprises me 1. how many Ultra cans I pick up - figured if the beer drinkers are counting calories, they'd burn a little energy tossing their cans in the trash can. 2. how much trash is tossed out by the school and the cemetery.

I keep thinking how much fun it would be to send in a few beer cans for a DNA test on Ancestry.com - could make some people very uncomfortable...and they'd deserve it.

As a kid I liked watching the ditches for aluminum…….
WA is dirty,,,,, but the vegetation hides it……..

They use inmates here as well. Sadly within a few days can't tell it though.They could catch a buncn if usd the seat belt sheriffs set up 1/2 mile from the gas stations around noon every day.
