We are happy with our 2023 Polaris Ranger North Star, made in USA vs Mexico for Defender. Maybe Honda will make a full hvac cab someday.

We are very pleased with our Honda Pioneer 1000-3. Lots of power but needs a larger bed with racks.

My dad runs a Ranger for the past 8 yrs and loves it. 4300 miles without issue minus a door latch. I personally run a General Ultimate 4 seater. Works great for work or play. We use it at the farm working food plots, cutting and dragging trees and anything else that needs doing. We also have put 3000 trail miles on it the past 2 seasons and it performs flawlessly there as well. All work and no play go with the Ranger but..... if you want to be able to get out and play a little the General is hard to beat.

FYI friend who has run Commanders for years walked away from them due to increased issues with CanAm. Can't speak to that personally so grain of salt kind of thing

Love my Yamaha viking, 3 seater or 6 , i put a cab and heater on it. Zero issues while coworkers have had their Polaris in the shop or even replaced them because they weren't happy.

The viking is a 700 cc but its been used for years by Yamaha in other machines. Total cost was just over 21000 for the machine, lift ( looks cool) tires , rims , cab , heater and upgraded windshield. Will it do 60 mph nope but its hard to spot game at that speed has a bigger bed and 10 year belt warranty. Fits 3 grown adults plenty of clearance and wouldn't go to any other brand

I also have engine braking

Hatrd my 6 seater polaris too long and would bottom out in rough terrain

If trapping and just putting around a farm, Go with the smaller cc engine. The big boys really like the gas station. No matter what it is Polaris or CanAm.

As big as the ATV's are getting, might as well just get a Jeep.

May work for some, but I cross rivers and climb steep mud banks to get to some of my sets, as well as use some old overgrown logging roads. A jeep won't work for that. Then again, this is the same line my grandpa tapped in the 40's, using his boots and pack basket. So I guess what I'm saying is I'm spoiled. Ha!

I had a ranger.

Now I say I’ll never own another Polaris product.

Sold a really nice trouble free Can-Am four wheeler to finance the Ranger. I curse the day.

Ended up with the can am defender after all.

Should be good on the job, there’s a few things I don’t like:

Door handle and placement sucks. When you shut the door there is no room
Between handle and the steering wheel. Seats are comfortable but too straight up and
Down for my crooked posture. No heat runs in the back seat, just 2 on the front floor and dash
No auto dome light so it’s hard to find the key hole without a light in the dark

Only have 3 miles on it so I’m sure I’ll find more

I think you’ll like it once you’re used to it. My buddy has either the defender or General with a huge 6’ box, he loves it. They sure ain’t cheap eh?

Watching. I think it is about time I start realizing I am going to have physical limitations and am going to need a way to get around. Will not be ale to afford new to will be patient until the right used one comes along.

No not cheap, first thing in my life I ever bought new,
I could only find them used a couple thousand less
And a couple years old with around 1000- 2000 miles on them

My experience with Japanese products started 27 years ago. I bought a totalled 3 y/o civic with 55k miles and put it back together. I sold it 255,000 miles on it. All I needed to do was brakes & tires, etc. It was still on the original clutch. I once changed the 02 sensor because I thought gas miliage was dropping off and I felt bad for not doing any real work on it in hundreds of ks of miles. But it didn't really need the sensor.

When we bought a PWC, I got a Yamaha. In the 19 years we've had it, I've rebuilt the carbs once.

The wife & I both drive Toyotas (Highlander, Tacoma). Never a problem. Before that I had a Lexus (Toyota) for 10y / 100k miles - all it needed was an alternator.

When I bought an ATV a few years ago, we went with Yamaha (it was that or Honda, but the Honda was 1k more $). No problems, it just goes.

Not trying to be a Japanese shill, but they are very good at quality control. Perhaps not the most innovative, coolest, or trendiest. So if a person is looking for a cool toy, you can definiately find cooler. But if you're looking for a tool that will just work, Japanese should usually be at the top of the list.

My wife works at a shop that sells Can Am, Kawasaki, and CF Moto. we run Kawasaki and cannot say a bad thing about them. I would not hesitate to buy another. The new Kawasaki Ridge is a very nice unit, with enclosed cabs featuring heat and AC. With that being said I have several friends that have CF Motos and they are more than pleased with them, also their price point is good compared to other brands.

Go on Craigslist (or any other used ATV/UTV marketing site) and see how many Polaris you see for sale compared to Honda & CanAm.

There is a reason there are many more used Polaris for sale.

Do your research or you'll wish you had.
