Other than Don Rumford going in for open heart surgery, it's pretty quiet. I have a feeling with Greg gone, the Wisconsin depot will have significant issues getting someone (probably multiple people) to get up and running. The second sale will be better attended because of this with much bigger quantities. Talking to a bunch of bigger dealers around I think the beaver catch will be off significantly, but the demand is still there. The felters just need to turn inventory into cash. This would lead to possibly better beaver prices late in the spring?

But with no Info where would a person ship his or her fur. Do we ship directly to Canada?
You would think FHA would be posting some Info here on Tman.

I could be wrong but I think the felt industry likes to have several years worth of inventory on hand. When it gets down to the "pantry" getting bare they spook a little and stock up. It was just a few years back that hatter beaver were averaging $10 or less and not a lot of effort was being put on catching beaver so the pantry was taking a hit.

Numbers are way down from 20 years ago. But the last couple of years beaver trappers came out of the woodwork to take advantage of decent beaver prices.

To another U.S. based receiving agent.

Individuals shipping directly to Canada is not possible due to licensing requirements and paperwork.

Most all of the receiving agents sent their goods through Cambridge. That was the whole idea - one central receiving point. I know the agents in the west delivered their goods to Cambridge and Greg did one big shipment of the collected goods.

I still don't see anything about the Cambridge depot. Is It still the US collection depot?

Boco you would think FHA would post something pertaining to the Cambridge depot on their web site.
But when I read their web site, I see they still have Greg posted as one of our agents.
Get with the freakin program.

Big shock Their tech savvy and communication skills are akin to a kindergarten student if that. Now I’m going to hear about poor FHA staff being overworked and overwhelmed trappers LOL

Running a full time job and a trapline makes for some very long nights. Is anyone raising their hands to help out? I'd assume so if they're running as usual in WI.

The FHA warehouse is being run by Eric Schroeder until someone can get trained. He would be your contact person for Wisconsin. As far as I know all the listed pickup routes are a go. I am receiving fur at my shop in South Dakota till noon Tuesday December 24th. Starting the 26th I will be running routes for 2 weeks.

If Eric is anything like his Dad, the Wisconsin depot is in good hands.

This is going to be a time of transition, so please be patient this season. It will all work out. smile

Well, I'm glad that's settled. But I talked to several trappers and Eric Is not going to take over Greg's position. I'm thinking it's just temporary.

I was sick as a dog, so I didn't make the wake.
