As I have posted on here before, I spent 30 years at Remington. Lived through the 2 investment banker buyouts, and retired early to accept a job with a different gun company.

Remington quality started going downhill in 1993 after the first sale. I don't even know who or what owns it now. They moved the company to Georgia a while back. Don't think they make anything except M700 and and 870. My understanding is the quality isn't there.

Try to find a used one pre 1993 manufacture. There is a date code on all Remington guns. A little research will explain the code.

They can be quite accurate.

Remington may never make one again, but I wouldn't be surprised is another company brought a pump rifle back.I've heard of a,couple of manufacturers looking at the possibility. One source for sure was pretty credible.I'm not saying its going to happen, but it has been looked at.

These are the guns that are responsible (and the person shooting it) for more leg shot, gut shot, or jaw shot deer
than any other. Thankfully it seems people have learned that getting five shots off quick at running deer doesn't equal success... that it's better to get one good shot off with an accurate bolt gun and you will kill many more deer.

I've not personally used a 7600, although I've been around them and seen them used. But I've used 760s (the pump model) since I was ten years old and killed a heckuva lot of game with them. I've got a lot of different rifles and yeah as a general rule bolt guns are more accurate but my dads old 760 was a 1/2 MOA gun with my handloads and mine is a 1 MOA gun. Which is plenty accurate at the distances most guys hunt, and there isn't another gun I'd rather have in my hand if I've got a deer or elk running through the timber. Yes you need to know your limitations and stay within them, but it amazes me the number of people that can't make a running shot. Put my 760 in my hands and give me a running deer at a hundred yards and I am completely confident it is a dead deer.

the 7600 is just a newer model of the 760

about the time they made the 742 (semi auto) improved they changed the extractor and called it the 7400 they also changed the number on the 760 to 7600
there was also a 74 and 76 that were budget versions and later a 7500 also semi auto

the 760 , 76 , 7600 are all pump guns with slight variations like extractor , bolt lugs , thread on the barrel.

the 740 , 74 , 742 , 7400 and 7500 are the semi auto versions

Guns aren't responsible for leg, gut shot deer. Hunters with poor judgement are.

If I were to make a bet I would put my money on Henry to make a pump rifle.

I own a 7600 and it sits in the safe. They have a cult following in Pennsylvania but they just don’t trip my trigger.

Henry makes a pump .22 it's a fun little rifle. It reminded me of a pump .22 my grandad had when I was a kid, so I bought it and I haven't been disappointed

Sorry, for some reason I always get the 7400 and 7600 confused. I remember looking at the newer pumps (7600) when they made them with a synthetic stock, they were much lighter than my old 760 and if they had offered them in stainless I would have probably got one. But I've heard from some that the quality just wasn't there like the older ones.

One of those in .243 stainless with a synthetic stock would be an awesome boat gun

I bought one 20+ years ago for my wife. It has the “5 diamond” for end and us in 300 savage. There was a place selling reduced power springs for the trigger I put one in it and trigger cleaned up fairly nice. She can make 2-3 shots touch with factory Remington ammo. Groups under an inch. She loves the gun and being right handed but left eye dominate she shoots left handed. Best $125 off gun broker I ever spent. I did have a nice recoil pad out on it. Also scored 8 boxes of factory ammo for a deal so she is set there too. I kind of always wanted one in 35 whelen
