Picked up a deal on a REM rifled barrel with scope rail I have wanted and I can’t mount the shorter 4x shotgun scope I had far enough back for proper eye relief(rail not long enough by approx 1”). Options??
I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

this is not a 870 but you can get the idea all the EGW rails are the same on top just the hole spacing and bottom profile change. my issue is not far enough forward , just reverse the cantilever mount and you get the idea although that sounds like your stock is too short or your scope has crap eye relief which will be bad when it hits you in the face

Options?? ahh you mean the cantilever scope mount coming off the barrel , I re-read that similar to the scope mount I posted 2 of those might get you back that inch it can let it hang back further if turned that direction

Pete, I would love to see you shoulder a gun. I for the life of me don't see how you get close enough to the scope to see thru it.
I need the scope back to about the end of the bo!t when opened like in your pic. right over the trigger with a 14 inch LOP on almost every gun is where I mount it I may see if I can get you a picture

https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-QUAD-LOCK-RNGS-MBLK/dp/B0000V2DM2?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1also that Barska , how much eye relief does it have I tried one on a 22 a friend bough it off amazon for his 10/22 asked me to mount it. I hated it from day one , 2 years later I had the gun to clean it and swapped it out for a tasco I had even that was a huge improvement over the barska 4x if you can't get 3 or 4 fingers between your brow and the scope , you don't want to fire a slug with it. your hand bladed like your saluting should fit between your eye brow and the scope.

I am guessing mainly from a bench is how you and a lot of people shoot with them way back like that. I find life doesn't much happen at the bench so all mine are set to be right/workable for prone , kneeling and standing. I turkey neck and drop to get the same position repeatable , standing I blade body some to get a little closer

Not certain what scope you are using but some have more eye relief than others. May just need to look at another scope or use the extended rings like WD91 suggested.
