I dont use lured sets for otter but if I did I would start with fish oil and work something up from there. Probably add some rat musk and some sweet smelling alcohol for a carrier.Creme de menthe or some sambuca.

Use 100 percent blind sets but where otter are coming in and out of water and crossover sets between bodies of water some mink gland helps keep them in the same area for mulitiple sets. and catches

Use lure at otter dirthole sets on man-made pond/lake dams.
Caven's Otter Lure Supreme has caught many otter for me over the years at that set. No bait...just that lure.
Another good smell is any skunky call lure. No bait.
Otter's curiosity is strong.

I see there is an otter gland lure made by Kaatz and wildlife control supplies ! Otter use their musk similar to how a skunk uses their's....when they are alarmed. It's great for coyotes, fox, and bcats.....not so much for otter.

Certainly not an Otter lure but they seem to constantly show interest in Jeff Dunnier - Big Pile

Sometimes otter are attracted to a beaver caster lure. Correct, caught more than a few on Bob Wilsons green beaver lure.(in beaver sets)

Fresh fish and fresh muskrat make great otter baits. They are highly attracted to them in pocket sets especially along creeks with no discernable run. If they come by they will check out baited pocket sets. Put the trap back from the hole about 3 inches for best results.

I see there is an otter gland lure made by Kaatz and wildlife control supplies ! Otter use their musk similar to how a skunk uses their's....when they are alarmed. It's great for coyotes, fox, and bcats.....not so much for otter. I agree with that. I have had luck using otter urine. Especially during the rut. You can grab up piles of peed on leaves and grass at their toilets for urine. I also hit on a novel thing for otter: Pick up fresh scat from a toilet or out of the large intestine of an already caught otter and pour a little of Cavens shellfish oil on it. Place in front of trap. That has worked really well. Also gets coon of course.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
